My client is a privately owned large international and multidisciplinary consultancy with offices in the Middle East, Africa, Oceania, Asia and the Far East. They are looking to bring on board an experienced and Principal Fire & Life Safety for their Dubai office as soon as possible. My client has been sub-contracting their Fire & Life Safety these past few years and are now looking for an excellent & ambitious Principal Engineer to step into this role to lead & bolster the Fire & Life team to provide in-house expertise. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to really make a name for himself in Fire & Life Safety in the Middle East. In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Technical Director.
In this strategic Fire & Life Safety role you will be responsible for the leadership, growth and support of their team, ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies, attend and lead team and project meetings, support the development and delivery of training. Also, you will be providing technical leadership to respond to prequalification documents, RFPs and other client inquiries. You will act as the Project Manager on selected projects by managing the successful delivery of high quality multi-disciplinary projects as well as your own projects and that projects led by direct reports adhere to Project Lifecycle and satisfy the aesthetic without compromising life safety. Additionally, you will ensure proactive project planning, stakeholder and risk management & supervise the team to identify, assess and manage major project risk.
Day-to-day you will be leading and developing the performance based Fire & Life Safety Design reports throughout the project lifecycle, conduct and evaluate the results of fire, smoke and egress modelling, detailed fire & life safety compliance reviews, define applicable fire scenarios, acceptance criteria and output format for performance based design solutions performance by others. Ensure compliance to use of UAE Fire Codes, NFPA, IBC, British Standard based design codes, as well as adapt and utilise other applicable design legislation dependent on region. Keep up to date with industry developments with respect to own discipline and understand and appreciate the basic technical principles and drivers of other disciplines, develop the technical capabilities of direct reports, and lead technical solutions on projects.

The ideal candidate will preferably be degree qualified and have previous extensive UAE experience, proven experience leading and managing teams and projects, and fully conversant with UAE and British Standard & Performance Based Design Codes. Charted status is also ideal but not essential.
