Role:

The purpose of this role is to provide the Electrical Design and Technical expertise in supporting project delivery.  Working closely with the Project team, Project Leader and wider Design Team whilst contributing to consistency in delivery and technical knowledge. Representing the company (both internally and externally) by maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence, professionalism, and enthusiasm.


Project Delivery

  • Ensuring consistent production of well-considered technical solutions.
  • Working collaboratively through clear communication with all members of the internal and external Project Team to ensure the successful delivery for all.
  • Inputting to and following the QA process to maintain the quality of all project deliverables in terms of both presentation and technical accuracy.
  • Working alongside the Project Leader/Senior Engineers to establish timescales and resource requirements.

Project Leadership

  • Leading by example in terms of attitude and commitment.
  • Providing support and leadership to Junior/Trainee Engineers.
  • Leading the development of the design aspects within your control to achieve the desired outcomes in the most efficient manner.
  • Consistent application of the latest learning and development initiatives and opportunities as identified through the development process.

Technical Standards

  • Carrying out design calculations and providing technical input to ensure solutions are correctly implemented.
  • Creating drawings, reports and specifications that clearly demonstrate the requirements of the system/project to communicate information appropriately.
  • Striving to develop knowledge and understand of all aspects of building services design to provide a greater depth of expertise.
  • Utilising digital delivery resource in ensuring consistency in quality of delivered material whilst meeting project deadlines.
  • Recording and imparting knowledge and lessons learnt to the wider team for the benefit of all.
  • Utilise technical excellence and latest industry thinking within project delivery.
  • Ensuring the project QA process is adhered to and utilised by default.

The main responsibilities are in the areas of project delivery and support of the group management. You should be commercially aware, be able to develop and maintain client relationships, provide technical expertise, provide support to less experienced engineers, ensure quality standards, and adopt and promote the company ethos.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of electrical systems for various projects.
  • Develop project plans and schedules.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis.
  • Conduct testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Provide technical support to clients.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in electrical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems design and development.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to build and develop existing clients and projects for a national Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health consultancy servicing projects in the Northern regions of England. Projects will range from £5m-150m in value within sectors which include hotels, commercial, industrial, education and leisure (some of largest MEP projects currently in the UK).

The role:

  • Maintaining key client relationships
  • Business development/Identify new opportunities/clients and dealing with project tenders
  • Leading and managing the technical development of internal team
  • Coordinate with senior team members to ensure continuous development of junior staff
  • Oversee internal resourcing and work with other internal departments
  • Oversee project delivery from feasibility through to construction stage
  • Ensure projects delivered are profitable and in-line with client brief
  • Project management across multiple sectors
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external – Clients, Architects, Contractors, Consultants etc
  • Oversee technical design throughout project lifecycle
  • Attend client and progress meetings throughout various phases of projects
  • Site inspections reporting back to design team

Experience:

  • 5 + years experience
  • Preferably Chartered or working towards chartership
  • Degree in Engineering or industry related qualification
  • UK Building Services Consultancy experience
  • A good understanding of electrical, mechanical, sustainability and public health aspects
  • Adhering to relevant British Standards/Regs and Codes of Practice
  • Working with partners within the wider business to meet company objectives
  • Managing client relationships and develop new relationships
  • Up to date with Health and Safety and Environment Policy.
