  Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in electrical engineering design within the building services sector, preferably with a focus on large-scale and complex projects.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical calculation software.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm systems, and sustainable design principles.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and manage resources effectively.

• Senior Mechanical Engineer

As their business grows and continues to develop, they are looking to reinforce the Building Services team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in their Manchester office. This role will suit an experienced mechanical engineer who is looking to develop and progress in an environment where your efforts and talent are recognised. This is an exciting time for them, and they can offer the right individual the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with Blue-Chip Developers in a friendly and vibrant team. What you'll be doing: In this role you will produce detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with the project requirements and as such a sound knowledge of technical engineering design relevant to the role is required - liaising with both Senior Engineers and Engineering Technicians regarding design and drawing as part of this dynamic team that believes in absolute delivery. Work will typically be undertaken in conjunction with a Mechanical Associate assisting in the survey, design, specification, and contract administration process of the projects. The work will be a mixture of survey, design work, office-based project administration, and site attendances.

  • Carrying out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects.
  • Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages.
  • Attend design team meetings alongside other staff members.
  • Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems.
  • Undertake Mechanical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for projects. Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project team. Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative and health and safety requirements.
  • Utilise Building Services software for calculations.
  • Produce marked-up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
  • Select and specify products, equipment, and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors.
  • Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project in conjunction with more senior staff.

  Who we're looking for: To be successful in this role you will most likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to either IMechE or CIBSE requirements. Ability to design principle mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:

  • Ventilation design
  • Chilled water
  • Comfort Cooling design
  • Domestic hot and cold water systems / Public Health
  • Heating systems
  • Above Ground drainage
  • HVAC control principles
  • Use of  Hevacomp / IES or equivalent
  • Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCAD
  • Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems above
  • Use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

  Role: This is an exciting opportunity for a Building Services Mechanical Design Engineer with a leading International multi-disciplinary design consultancy in Central London.  They are one of the UKs Top Employers for 5 years in a row according to Top Employer Institute.  Their multi-disciplined team includes MEP (30 strong), Environmental Design & Sustainability, VT, and Architectural Design Lighting.  They are involved in high profile and prestigious projects all over the world across a variety of sectors so the role may involve some travel. Responsibilities:

  • To fully understand Mechanical systems design process and undertake mechanical engineering design activities relating to assigned projects.
  • To fulfil the Practice’s overall objective in leading to first class architecture and engineering on time and on budget.
  • To have thorough knowledge of, and comply with, company procedures and standards.

  Skills: Required:

  • Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities.
  • Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based.
  • Have 2 to 4 years of previous mechanical engineering design experience.
  • Foundational technical understanding of building mechanical engineering discipline and an appreciation of the role of the environmental engineer within the design team.
  • Developing understanding of other engineering disciplines engaged in the design of the built environment.
  • Appreciation of building design and architecture with creative and innovative mindset.
