  • Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication and team collaboration skills
  • Strong technical understanding of UK building services design standards and regulations
  • A passion for high-quality engineering, sustainability and continuous improvement

  • The opportunity to join a business with strong foundations, a clear vision and ambitious plans for sustainable growth

For an experienced building services engineer looking to combine technical leadership with team development, client engagement and genuine influence over the future of a growing consultancy, this represents an excellent long-term career opportunity.

Client

Our client is a fast-growing sustainable engineering consultancy focused on helping organisations unlock the potential of energy, power, heat and cooling to create measurable improvements in buildings and infrastructure.

Their multidisciplinary offering brings together sustainability and data analysis, MEP design, heat network operations and facilities management, enabling them to provide integrated solutions throughout the lifecycle of a project.

Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious and growing consultancy where individuals are encouraged to take ownership, show initiative and play an active role in moving projects forward.

Working within the sustainability and data team, you will use data and engineering insight to deliver practical, actionable outcomes for clients. Projects include decarbonisation strategies, heat network optimisation studies, whole life carbon assessments and energy modelling.

As part of a smaller, fast-moving consultancy, you will have the opportunity to develop considerable breadth, confidence and technical credibility. You will gain early exposure to clients, work across a variety of sectors and project types, and be trusted to take work from initial question through to solution – shaping the approach, delivering the outputs and seeing the impact of your work.

The position also provides the opportunity to work beyond a single specialism as project priorities evolve, allowing you to develop a broader technical toolkit while gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle and how work is won and delivered.

Role

You will lead the delivery of energy modelling using IES, developing robust modelling approaches, establishing clear assumptions, producing quality-checked results and providing practical recommendations that clients and design teams can act upon.

You will take day-to-day technical ownership of IES-led project delivery, with a particular focus on TM52/TM59 overheating assessments and TM54 operational energy modelling. You will have the support of the wider team while being trusted to drive your own work forward.

While energy modelling will be the core focus of the position, you will also contribute to other sustainability workstreams as projects require, applying the same technical rigour and ownership across a broader range of client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on, end-to-end IES modelling and project delivery
  • TM52 and TM59 overheating assessments
  • TM54 operational energy modelling
  • Production of clear technical reports and communication of results to clients and design teams
  • Supporting wider sustainability workstreams, including decarbonisation options, heat network analysis, whole life carbon inputs and planning support
  • Contributing to the continued improvement of project delivery as the consultancy grows, including QA processes, templates, internal guidance and ways of working

Requirements

The successful candidate will be confident delivering IES modelling projects independently and comfortable working within a growing consultancy environment where initiative, adaptability and ownership are highly valued.

You should be able to:

  • Technically deliver projects using IES rather than simply providing modelling support
  • Demonstrate strong experience of TM52/TM59 and TM54 assessments
  • Take ownership of tasks and maintain project momentum without requiring significant supervision
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and take on challenges outside your core specialism when required
  • Communicate clearly with clients and other members of the design team
  • Explain complex technical findings in a clear and practical way
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to technical quality and attention to detail
