  Role: This is an exciting opportunity for a Building Services Electrical Engineer with a leading International multi-disciplinary design consultancy in Central London.  They are one of the UKs Top Employers for 5 years in a row according to Top Employer Institute.  Their multi-disciplined team includes MEP (30 strong), Environmental Design & Sustainability, VT, and Architectural Design Lighting.  They are involved in high profile and prestigious projects all over the world across a variety of sectors so the role may involve some travel. Responsibilities:

  • Represent the company in professional and diligent manner at all times.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationship with internal and external stakeholders, design team, authorities, utilities and associated organisations.
  • Attend all meetings with client, project team, contractors etc.
  • Undertake and deliver high quality detailed engineering design for electrical building services and power distribution systems, including calculations, analysis, schematics, drawings, diagrams, models, specifications and other documents required.
  • Review and management of project from inception to post construction duties.
  • Good Knowledge of relevant legislations, standards, regulations, guides and good practise.
  • Seek, complete and record evidence of, continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with the requirements of the relevant professional Institution.
  • To have thorough knowledge of and compliance with procedures and standards.
  • Contribute, or otherwise assist, as required.

  Qualities and Skills:  Required:

  • Chartered Engineer or Professional Registered working toward CEng in 6 months. With Electrical engineering or Building Services Degree with electrical bias, 2,1 or higher.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a building design engineering capacity within the UK and internationally.
  • Proven ability to design electrical Building Services systems and demonstrate rationale behind proposals.
  • Experience of being Lead Electrical Engineering for more than one project (construction value >£30M).
    • Required involvement from Concept to Construction.
    • Involved in Construction Administration (snagging, Testing &Commissioning).
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of low carbon design.
  • Mentoring and management of junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and experience.
  • Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities.
  • Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information.
  • Self motivated and able to take responsibility.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team.
  • Flexible attitude.
  • Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally.

   Desirable:

  • Project Management with good financial acumen.

  • Second Language.
  • Specialism in one or more of the following: - Lighting and Daylighting - Vertical Transportation - IT and Communications Infrastructure - Security - Acoustic - High / Medium Voltage - Earthing, Bonding and EMC - Lightning Protection - UPS and Generator - Fire Protection - Building Information Modelling.
  • Proficient in some of the following: - Revit - Navisworks - AutoCad - Microstation - Rhino - AGI32 - Dialux - Relux - Radiance - Elevate - Amtech - Hevacomp - InDesign - NBS Create / NES Spec - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Project.

With the assistance of other engineers within the team the Electrical Engineer will be required to take on the technical design and integration of the electrical systems for new and existing projects. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with designing and supporting the Senior Electrical Engineer to manage individual projects, resolving technical matters, and liaison with clients as and when required.
  • Liaising and developing the relationship with existing clients of the Company also endeavoring to secure new sources of work. You will receive training and guidance in these areas of marketing the Company.
  • Attending project meetings with clients and internal meetings, to discuss progress and policies.
  • Carry out site surveys for Condition and Feasibility Reports.
  • Writing and producing specifications and Tender packages.

  Qualifications and Skills:

  • Preferably a degree in Building Services Engineering.
  • 2-3 years experience in a related Engineering field.
  • Proficient in the use of Office 365, Amtech (Trimble), and Dialux.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit.

• Senior Electrical Engineer

  We have a requirement for an Electrical Design Engineer to join and assist an independent design constancy in London on a contract basis. As an Electrical Design Engineer you will be responsible for the designs across several client projects. You will have the opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplined team. You will be responsible for the following:

  • Some direct work with the client from concept/feasibility stage
  • Conduct initial and detailed designs on major large scale projects
  • Cable calculations, Lighting calculations and power distribution.
  • Electrical Designs on several projects across different sectors
