  Role: This is an exciting opportunity for a Building Services Mechanical Design Engineer with a leading International multi-disciplinary design consultancy in Central London.  They are one of the UKs Top Employers for 5 years in a row according to Top Employer Institute.  Their multi-disciplined team includes MEP (30 strong), Environmental Design & Sustainability, VT, and Architectural Design Lighting.  They are involved in high profile and prestigious projects all over the world across a variety of sectors so the role may involve some travel. Responsibilities:

  • Represent the company in professional and diligent manner always.
  • To provide discipline leadership.
  • To adhere to the design process and undertake mechanical engineering design activities relating to the project.
  • To fulfil the Practice’s overall objective in producing first class architecture and engineering on time and on budget.
  • Review and management of project from inception to post construction duties.
  • Good Knowledge of relevant legislations, standards, regulations, guides and good practise.
  • To develop thorough knowledge of and compliance with company procedures and standards.
  • To contribute and assist, as required by the Project Leader or Senior Partner, or nominated Engineer.

  Skills: Required:

  • Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities.
  • Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based.
  • Qualified as a Chartered Engineer.
  • Solid technical understanding of own core engineering discipline and the role of the mechanical engineer within the design team.
  • Broad understanding of other engineering disciplines engaged in the design of the built environment.
  • Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standard design reference material.
  • Ability to use initiative in response to demands of project.
  • Able to negotiate and communicate well in graphical, written or verbal forms including ability to listen and to understand others.
  • Ability to understand and formulate design decisions.
  • A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and a proven commitment to independent, lifelong learning.
  • Self-organized and motivated.

  Desirable:

  • International project experience.
  • LEED qualified or having working familiarity with environmental assessment methods such as LEED/BREEAM/WELL etc.
  • Broad understanding of sustainable design and the role of HVAC systems design in the built environment with some knowledge on MEP embodied carbon.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE design standards, including 55, 62.1, 90.1 etc.
  • Ability to use some of the following software applications: IES, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Coding in python, dynamo, grasshopper, C+.

They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design engineer to join their expanding team to help deliver some of the outstanding buildings and projects that they work on including schemes across the education, high rise residential, large-scale commercial, stadia, and healthcare sectors. While a solid technical understanding of Mechanical Building Services is required, they are looking for an individual with the ability to think laterally and apply learning and experience to new challenges.  It's also vitally important every member of the team shares their values which embodies their approach to project delivery.   Role: The purpose of this role is to provide the Mechanical Design and Technical expertise in supporting project delivery.  Working closely with the Project team, Project Leader and wider Design Team whilst contributing to consistency in delivery and technical knowledge.   • Utilising digital delivery resource in ensuring consistency in quality of delivered material whilst meeting project deadlines.
  • Recording and imparting knowledge and lessons learnt to the wider team for the benefit of all.
  • Utilise technical excellence and latest industry thinking within project delivery.

• Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

  London - Central/Greater

  £460 per day (Outside ir35)

  Our client is Building Services consultancy providing single source solutions to the construction industry, property owners and property managers.  They provide solutions on all aspects of Building Services Commissioning and Client Verification and have been at the forefront of Commissioning Management for over 35 years.  As a result of growth they are looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join the team. Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Review all commissioning related documentation
  • Review the testing and commissioning process and plan
  • Identify risks to the project and any potential opportunities
  • Review and report against installation progress
  • Review trade contractors method statements
  • Attend regular commissioning meetings
  • Attend off-site and factory witness tests
  • Witness system pre-commissioning and setting to work activities
  • Witness commissioning activities
  • Witness of all integrated system testing
  • Witness of all performance / environmental testing
  • Witness testing of life safety systems in conjunction with relevant Statutory Authorities
  • Provide detailed reports to the client at agreed frequency
  • Issue a final summary report to the project team confirming that the services have been correctly installed and commissioned to specification
  • Identify any outstanding works, snags or potential latent risks
  • System commissionability reviews
  • Development of the commissioning plan

  When applying for this role as Mechnical Commissioning Engineer you will have skills and/or experience in the following items in order to be successful:

  • Degree or HND in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven UK experience in commissioning management.
  • Strong understanding of Mechanical systems and integration within building environments.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of British standards and building regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Development of the commissioning programme, including identification of the critical path and construction milestone drivers
  • Production and installation monitoring to specification and standards
  • Production of monitoring documents to track factory acceptance tests, method statement production, testing, commissioning and final acceptance and sign-off
