  We’re acting as a PSL Agency with access to supply 1 MEP Director and 6 MEP Technical Directors to assemble a team of 30 MEP Engineers across 6 concept packages for a major project in Saudi Arabia. Location: Dubai, UAE/Riyadh, KSA Project Description: An expansive, contemporary downtown mega project spanning 19km2 that is part of the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative. Central to this endeavour is a 400m2 cube-shaped supertall skyscraper, capable of accommodating the equivalent of 20 Empire State Buildings. This downtown is grounded in the principles of sustainability featuring green areas, pedestrian-friendly paths, cycling routes, and eco zones to enhance residents' well-being and promote healthy lifestyles and community engagement. The project will include an iconic museum, a cutting-edge technology and design university, and a multipurpose immersive theatre among 80 state of the art entertainment and culture venues, 300k m2 of retail space, and home for hundreds of thousands of residents.   • Building Services/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering degree from an internationally recognised university.
  • Chartered Engineer affiliated with the relevant professional institute.

• Senior Mechanical Engineer

As their business grows and continues to develop, they are looking to reinforce the Building Services team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in their Manchester office. This role will suit an experienced mechanical engineer who is looking to develop and progress in an environment where your efforts and talent are recognised. This is an exciting time for them, and they can offer the right individual the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with Blue-Chip Developers in a friendly and vibrant team. What you'll be doing: In this role you will produce detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with the project requirements and as such a sound knowledge of technical engineering design relevant to the role is required - liaising with both Senior Engineers and Engineering Technicians regarding design and drawing as part of this dynamic team that believes in absolute delivery. Work will typically be undertaken in conjunction with a Mechanical Associate assisting in the survey, design, specification, and contract administration process of the projects. The work will be a mixture of survey, design work, office-based project administration, and site attendances.

  • Carrying out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects.
  • Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages.
  • Attend design team meetings alongside other staff members.
  • Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems.
  • Undertake Mechanical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for projects. Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project team. Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative and health and safety requirements.
  • Utilise Building Services software for calculations.
  • Produce marked-up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
  • Select and specify products, equipment, and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors.
  • Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project in conjunction with more senior staff.

  Who we're looking for: To be successful in this role you will most likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to either IMechE or CIBSE requirements. Ability to design principle mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:

  • Ventilation design
  • Chilled water
  • Comfort Cooling design
  • Domestic hot and cold water systems / Public Health
  • Heating systems
  • Above Ground drainage
  • HVAC control principles
  • Use of  Hevacomp / IES or equivalent
  • Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCAD
  • Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems above
  • Use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

  • Manage projects from inception to completion
  • Produce mechanical designs and drawings from feasibility to technical design
  • Produce mechanical specifications, schedules, drawings and any other contract documents developed through the RIBA work stages for review by project team leaders
  • Produce design calculations using IES / HEVACOMP / ANYSYS (and other approved software)
  • Have a lead input to the design progress and coordination meetings
  • Provide supervision and support at all stages of the design process both internally and to the project team

  Requirements:

  • Experience in the design and co-ordination of building services, production of energy statements and development of sustainable design solutions
  • Detailed knowledge of Building Regulations, CIBSE guides, BREEAM, LEED, BSRIA guides and applications
