As their business grows and continues to develop, they are looking to reinforce the Building Services team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in their Newcastle office. What you'll be doing: In this role you will produce detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with the project requirements and as such a sound knowledge of technical engineering design relevant to the role is required - liaising with both Senior Engineers and Engineering Technicians regarding design and drawing as part of this dynamic team that believes in absolute delivery. Work will typically be undertaken in conjunction with a Mechanical Associate assisting in the survey, design, specification, and contract administration process of the projects. The work will be a mixture of survey, design work, office-based project administration, and site attendances.

  • Carrying out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects.
  • Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages.
  • Attend design team meetings alongside other staff members.
  • Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems.
  • Undertake Mechanical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for projects. Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project team. Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative and health and safety requirements.
  • Utilise Building Services software for calculations.
  • Produce marked-up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
  • Select and specify products, equipment, and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors.
  • Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project in conjunction with more senior staff.

  Who we're looking for: To be successful in this role you will most likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to either IMechE or CIBSE requirements. Ability to design principle mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:

  • Ventilation design
  • Chilled water
  • Comfort Cooling design
  • Domestic hot and cold water systems / Public Health
  • Heating systems
  • Above Ground drainage
  • HVAC control principles
  • Use of  Hevacomp / IES or equivalent
  • Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCAD
  • Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems above
  • Use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

They are looking to add a Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join their busy team in Bexley. Responsibilities include:

  • Electrical services design including but not limited to LV design including cable sizing, lighting, lighting controls, emergency lighting, fire alarms, and security systems.
  • Preparation and development of concept, feasibility, and detailed design proposals, which include specifications, drawings, and calculations.
  • Ability to use DIALux lighting and Amtech electrical software.
  • Fully proficient in AutoCAD 2D with either some knowledge of the use of Revit or the desire to learn.
  • MS Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Good communication skills are required whilst you accompany colleagues to meetings with clients, other professional design team members, and contractors.
  • Strong technical expertise within electrical building services design, gained working within the UK building services industry for either a consultancy or contractor.
  • Knowledge of UK design legislation and guidance.

  Knowledge & Experience required:

  •  1 -3 years’ Electrical services design experience.
  • DIALux and Amtech software knowledge.
  • HNC/HND level in building services or electrical engineering or degree equivalent.
  • High standard of written and verbal English.
  • Able to handle several ongoing projects at various stages.

They have experienced steady growth by providing first class project delivery and now consist of a team of 30 multi-disciplinary Building Services and Sustainability Engineers. They are looking for an Electrical Engineer to work on some of the UKs largest high end residential & education projects. Building Services Experience required: 

  • Low Voltage (LV) Distribution
  • General and Emergency Lighting
  • General LV Power
  • Access Control, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Intruder Alarms
  • Fire Detection and Alarm
  • Lightning and Surge Protection Systems

  The role will involve:

  • Complete survey work and site inspections
  • Undertake design calculations using various methods, from manual calculations to software-based modelling

   In order to be considered for this role you will have:

  • Minimum 3-6 years building services consultancy experience
  • A degree qualification - Electrical or building services (Chartered or working towards). An HNC or HND with suitable design experience will also be considered
  • Client interaction skills
  • Software design ideally including Microsoft Office, Amtech, and Dialux
  • Knowledge of British standards, building regulations documents, etc
  • Knowledge of HTMs would also be of benefit
  • Professional membership (CIBSE, IET, IMechE)
