We are seeking a Junior/Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team.  You will be producing mechanical designs for a range of building services projects, from initial concept through to final delivery.  You will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of their exciting and challenging projects, while working with a dynamic and innovative team that makes a positive impact on the built environment.

  • A capacity to develop further, sketch designs and design briefs dictated by either clients or engineering managers.
  • Having full responsibility for technical and financial decisions taken. These include choice of system, organisation of works and development of projects, with the ability to comply with time restrictions and limits.
  • Undertake survey of a building a preparation of a Report on the mechanical aspects of the building, including capability and compliance with Codes of Practice and Regulations and energy evaluation.
  • Have an understanding of the basic physics and design parameters associated with other disciplines.
  • Have a full and detailed understanding of the physics and design parameters on all aspects of mechanical works, and be able to implement the designs, including energy assessment.
  • Be computer literate and able to assist in the preparation of drawings on CAD and ability to translate requirements to CAD Technicians.
  • Be competent in the exercise of independent technical judgement and application of engineering principles, including the application of Standards, Codes of Practice and Regulations.
  • Maintain a proactive attitude to maintaining output to programme and time management
  • Knowledge of British standards, building regulations documents, etc.
  • Able to work without supervision

   In order to be considered for this role you will have:

  • A degree qualification - mechanical or building services (Chartered or working towards). An HNC or HND with suitable design experience will also be considered.
  • Client interaction skills.
  • Software design ideally including Microsoft Office, Hevacomp, AutoCAD.

• Intermediate Electrical Engineer

  Client: Holistic MEP Building Services and Utility design consultant servicing a portfolio of blue-chip clients with sustainable solutions in the built environment. Role: Using sound knowledge of electrical building services to provide support and line management to the electrical team in order to progress multiple projects producing schematics and engineering calculations within agreed timescales. Responsibilities:

  • Produce schematics, elevations, details in AutoCAD which meet engineering directives, UK engineering standards, CDM regulations and internal drawing and quality procedures whilst understanding the system being designed
  • Produce and check engineering calculations as required whilst understanding the engineering principles behind the calculations
  • Support the team with primary project checking/reviews; resolving issues in order to maintain timeframes and quality compliance
  • Co-ordinate drawings/CAD with other disciplines, having an understanding of other engineering principles
  • Organise issue of drafted information, file documents including PDF/DWGs
  • Maintain a working knowledge of appropriate engineering and industry standards
  • Assist with AutoCad work when required
  • Demonstrate initiative in the management and progress of design projects
  • Liaise concisely and professionally with external members of the design team and Clients on Technical subjects whether at client meetings, workshops, project review meetings
  • To provide technical support to the team and provide accurate and timely project updates

  Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering

  An independent specialist MEP engineering consultancy established in 2005.   Join a dynamic team of c30 experienced engineers and designers providing innovative and sustainable solutions for a range of projects across various sectors, in the UK and Internationally. The firm is independently owned by the Directors and employees, all based together in one office, supporting each other without corporate interference or distractions irrelevant to project delivery.  They can provide technical support when needed but otherwise trust employees to independently manage their workload. Approximately two thirds of their turnover is derived from overseas projects, having undertaken projects in Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Russia, Vietnam, Germany, UAE, Angola and the Bahamas.  Their key sectors are commercial offices, mixed use developments, luxury hotels, concert halls, theatres and airports. As a Senior Public Health Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the plumbing design solutions on complex projects from initial concept through to final delivery, represent the business in front of clients and architects, and provide mentorship and guidance to more junior team members. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the public health design on complex and large-scale UK and International projects across a range of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, healthcare and industrial.
  • Manage the delivery of public health design solutions in accordance with British Standards and relevant codes of practice.
  • Produce detailed public health designs and specifications for projects, ensuring compliance with performance requirements and energy efficiency standards.
  • Undertake detailed calculations and simulations to validate the public health design solutions.
  • Attend site visits and meetings with clients, architects, and contractors.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers and design team members to ensure project deadlines and deliverables are met.
  • Mentor junior engineers to ensure their development and provide technical guidance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging public health design technologies and practices.

  Requirements:

  • Degree qualified.
  • Minimum of 5 years' UK experience in public health design engineering within the building services industry.
  • Ideally Chartered Engineer status.
  • Knowledge and experience of British Standards and relevant codes of practice.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
