  We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Building Services Consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering innovative engineering solutions across a diverse range of sectors throughout the UK. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the design and delivery of high-quality mechanical building services projects while working closely with clients and project stakeholders. Role: As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical building services designs across all stages of a project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to commissioning and completion. You will work both independently and collaboratively, providing technical expertise, managing project deliverables, mentoring junior engineers, and maintaining strong client relationships. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects.
  • Prepare mechanical designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
  • Undertake site surveys, condition surveys and technical inspections.
  • Design HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and domestic water systems.
  • Attend and lead client, contractor and design team meetings.
  • Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies and due diligence reports.
  • Support commissioning activities, snagging inspections and defect reporting.
  • Prepare and contribute to CDM and residual risk documentation.
  • Promote sustainable and energy-efficient design solutions.
  • Mentor and support graduate, trainee and junior engineers.
  • Assist with fee proposals, tenders and business development activities.

  Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience within a Building Services Consultancy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, public health and mechanical services design.
  • Experience delivering projects across a variety of sectors.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Strong technical and report-writing abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Depending on experience, the role may involve leading projects, managing design delivery, and mentoring junior engineers, while also contributing technical expertise and creative input to complex engineering challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and development of electrical building services systems across all project stages

  • Use of industry-standard software including AutoCAD and ideally Revit

  Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience within Building Services Engineering
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services design
  • Experience working across a range of building sector projects
  • Confident communicator with experience in client-facing environments
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, with Revit experience desirable
  • Ability to obtain full security clearance
  • Ideally Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership (for senior candidates)

• Principal/Associate Building Services Engineer

  This is an exciting opportunity to build and develop existing clients and projects for a national Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health consultancy servicing projects in the Northern regions of England. Projects will range from £5m-150m in value within sectors which include hotels, commercial, industrial, education and leisure (some of largest MEP projects currently in the UK).   • Maintaining key client relationships
  • Business development/Identify new opportunities/clients and dealing with project tenders

  • Oversee internal resourcing and work with other internal departments
  • Oversee project delivery from feasibility through to construction stage
  • Ensure projects delivered are profitable and in-line with client brief
  • Project management across multiple sectors
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external – Clients, Architects, Contractors, Consultants etc
  • Oversee technical design throughout project lifecycle
  • Attend client and progress meetings throughout various phases of projects
  • Site inspections reporting back to design team

  Experience:

  • 5 + years experience
  • Preferably Chartered or working towards chartership
  • Degree in Engineering or industry related qualification
  • UK Building Services Consultancy experience
  • A good understanding of electrical, mechanical, sustainability and public health aspects
  • Adhering to relevant British Standards/Regs and Codes of Practice
  • Working with partners within the wider business to meet company objectives
  • Managing client relationships and develop new relationships
  • Up to date with Health and Safety and Environment Policy.
