Seeking an Associate level Electrical Engineer. About the role: As a member of the Engineering team, you will report to an Associate Director. You will be responsible for leading and maintaining a wide range of projects and/or providing specialist knowledge to other projects/teams. Using industry benchmarks and internal standards, you will ensure not only the timely delivery of considered and accurate project information but also provide a leading point of contact for our clients/collaborators. The incumbent will be expected to undertake an element of business development, leveraging key contacts to secure new or additional work whenever possible. You will also be encouraged to secure external speaking/CPD opportunities. You will also be responsible for upholding the integrity of ISO 9001, directing, leading and co-ordinating the internal efforts of junior staff, providing appropriate frameworks and tools, agreeing appropriate standards and co -ordinating delivery against these standards. Role: This role requires a specialist pharmaceutical/life sciences Senior Mechanical Engineer, to spearhead energy efficiency projects and be the go-to person for design advice and lead projects. As the industry experiences greater regulations on the manufacturing process, the team are seeking an individual to bring experience on how to deliver and manage technical projects to support the growth of the business. The main responsibilities in this role will be to be ensure high quality delivery of energy-focused global pharmaceutical and life sciences HVAC engineering solutions, while also guiding others to ensure that design deliverables meet consistent standards and best practice. There will not be any direct line management responsibility for this role. The person in this role will act as a subject matter expert guiding the engineering team on process, quality and technical delivery. They also work closely with the senior leadership and sales teams growing the business and leading on consultative technical discussions with both new and existing client Responsibilities: Technical Leadership & Delivery (80% of the role): Most of the time will be working in the capacity of a consultant both externally and internally, influencing design and recommendations, representing best practice and promoting technical excellence in HVAC design and build within the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry and within the team.

  • Understanding client needs, formulating innovative solutions, and presenting technical information logically and compellingly.
  • Sharing demonstrable knowledge (such as recent used/test cases) both on build and design on a regular basis with the team.
  • Developing bespoke solutions and innovative designs to meet client needs aligning with cutting-edge technical approaches.
  • Facilitating & providing technical expertise on Energy Kaizen Leadership and HVAC systems.
  • Reporting on engineering KPIs by reviewing the data collection phases and quality of the technical work.
  • Applying expertise in engineering complex GMP compliant HVAC systems for building services.
  • Leading stakeholder discussions with clients on the technical delivery and progress.
  • Working on client site to facilitate projects (both nationally and internationally).
  • Working closely with the Engineering Manager to develop the technical expertise.
  • Responsible for adoption of technical best practice and adoption by the engineering team to maintain consistency and quality of deliverables
  • Supporting the Business's ISO 9001 status for consistent quality delivery.

  Business Operations (10% of the role):

  • Working closely and collaborating with the senior leadership team, operations team, and sales team to ensure effective operations to support current and future client engagements, by helping to develop project resources.
  • Participating in weekly engineering team management meetings and taking responsibility for delivering agreed actions and reporting.
  • Supporting business risk management through identification and mitigation activities.
  • Assisting in a culture of innovation and excellence and maintaining global subject matter expert status.

  Supporting Business Growth (10% of the role):

• Project Engineer

  Innovative, ambitious, and rapidly expanding technical asset management consultancy that specialises in making existing buildings sustainable. They help landlords and property managers map risk, plan for, and transition portfolios of buildings to net-zero carbon as cost-effectively as possible. They adopt a unique approach that combines building services engineering with dynamic simulation modelling, energy engineering, and their own bespoke data analysis software.  They work with global investment funds and property companies and support the management of over 1 million m2 of predominantly commercial real estate assets and employ more than 20 staff.  Their head office is in the West Midlands but many of the team work 100% remotely and are required to travel across the UK to visit buildings. Travel to head office including an overnight stay to attend team meetings is required once every two months.  Role:  They are looking to appoint a Project Engineer to lead on the management of live projects through a broad range of MEP disciplines.   The type of projects will include refurbishment/fit out, MEP plant installations (including PV and EV) and some new build. This is a key role in our continuing growth strategy. As such it will require someone confident enough to contribute to our business plans for growth, recruitment processes and help manage clients.  There will be progression opportunities for the successful applicant.  Responsibilities: 

  • Understanding and accurately interpreting customer requirements. 
  • Engaging with clients and in business development discussions for project team. 
  • Undertaking survey works as well as providing input into feasibility reports and business cases. 
  • Helping to develop engineering designs to achieve client aspirations in respect of sustainability and energy management targets. 

  • Tender evaluations. 
  • Outlining project specifications. 
  • CDM co-ordination and mobilisation of projects from pre-construction through to hand over. 
  • Assisting in the delivery of all aspects of M&E services for both refurbishments and new installation projects. This includes keeping to a programme, budget, and specification to include commissioning and post occupancy evaluation processes. 
  • Completing inspections and final sign-off/handovers to ensure the transition of completed projects into 'business as usual'. This includes contributing to regular evaluation sessions. 

  Essential skills: 

  • Engineering degree and a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience or a non-cognate graduate with a minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience and recognised engineering accreditations (such as CIBSE LCC/LCEA etc.) 
  • Membership of CIBSE, IMechE or IET 
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge 
  • AutoCAD M&E 
  • An understanding of UK construction contracts and processes 
  • An aspiration to deliver engineering excellence with a focus on sustainability within design. 

  Desirable skills: 

  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering and/or public health services 
  • Understanding of BIM processes including REVIT, COBIE and IES dynamic simulation modelling.
