  We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a London County Council on a long-term (ongoing) contract basis. This is a hybrid role, involving work from home, visits to sites, and time spent at the council’s offices. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site surveys and inspections
  • Prepare detailed reports and technical documentation
  • Design and review electrical systems for a range of building types, including:
    • Office buildings
    • Listed and heritage properties
    • Leisure centres and libraries
    • Residential developments

  Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – confident writing reports and leading meetings
  • Proven experience in electrical design, specification writing, and contractor management
  • In-depth understanding of Building Regulations and relevant standards
  • Professional membership (e.g., CIBSE or IET) preferred
  • Familiarity with JCT contracts and AutoCAD is an advantage

• Senior Electrical Design Engineer

  Client: This organisation provides creative, sustainable and energy efficient design solutions from concept through to delivery for national contractors, end users and developers.  They have an impressive portfolio of MEP schemes (up to £80m) and are growing from strength to strength in a sector dominating the Engineering industry. They are seeking a Senior Electrical Design engineer to join their expanding team to help deliver some of the outstanding buildings and projects that they work on including schemes across the education, high rise residential, large-scale commercial, stadia, and healthcare sectors. While a solid technical understanding of Electrical Building Services is required, they are looking for an individual with the ability to think laterally and apply learning and experience to new challenges.  It's also vitally important every member of the team shares their values which embodies their approach to project delivery. Role: The purpose of this role is to provide the Electrical Design and Technical expertise in supporting project delivery.  Working closely with the Project team, Project Leader and wider Design Team whilst contributing to consistency in delivery and technical knowledge.   • Working alongside the Project Leader/Senior Engineers to establish timescales and resource requirements.

  • Providing support and leadership to Junior/Trainee Engineers.
  • Leading the development of the design aspects within your control to achieve the desired outcomes in the most efficient manner.
  • Consistent application of the latest learning and development initiatives and opportunities as identified through the development process.

  Technical Standards

  • Carrying out design calculations and providing technical input to ensure solutions are correctly implemented.
  • Creating drawings, reports and specifications that clearly demonstrate the requirements of the system/project to communicate information appropriately.
  • Striving to develop knowledge and understand of all aspects of building services design to provide a greater depth of expertise.
  • Utilising digital delivery resource in ensuring consistency in quality of delivered material whilst meeting project deadlines.
  • Recording and imparting knowledge and lessons learnt to the wider team for the benefit of all.
  • Utilise technical excellence and latest industry thinking within project delivery.
  • Ensuring the project QA process is adhered to and utilised by default.

You will be required to work within a team to develop the successful projects through clear strategy and proactive commitment nationally and internationally. Responsibilities:

  • To adhere to the design process and undertake mechanical engineering design activities relating to the project
  • To fulfil the Practice’s overall objective in producing first class architecture and engineering on time and on budget

  Qualities and skills required:

  • Qualified as or working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer
  • Solid technical understanding of own core engineering discipline and the role of the mechanical engineer within the design team
  • Broad understanding of other engineering disciplines engaged in the design of the built environment
  • Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standard design reference material
  • Ability to use initiative in response to demands of project
  • Able to negotiate and communicate well in graphical, written or verbal forms including ability to listen and to understand others
  • Ability to understand and formulate design decisions

  • Familiarity with ASHRAE design standards, including 55, 62.1, 90.1 etc.
  • Ability to use some of the following software applications: IES, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Coding in python, dynamo, grasshopper, C+
