As their business grows and continues to develop, they are looking to reinforce the Building Services team with the appointment of an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in their Newcastle office. This role will suit an experienced mechanical engineer who is looking to develop and progress in an environment where your efforts and talent are recognised. What you'll be doing: In this role you will produce detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with the project requirements and as such a sound knowledge of technical engineering design relevant to the role is required - liaising with both Senior Engineers and Engineering Technicians regarding design and drawing as part of this dynamic team that believes in absolute delivery. Work will typically be undertaken in conjunction with a Mechanical Associate assisting in the survey, design, specification, and contract administration process of the projects. The work will be a mixture of survey, design work, office-based project administration, and site attendances.

  • Carrying out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects.
  • Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages.
  • Attend design team meetings alongside other staff members.
  • Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems.
  • Undertake Mechanical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for projects. Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project team. Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative and health and safety requirements.
  • Utilise Building Services software for calculations.
  • Produce marked-up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
  • Select and specify products, equipment, and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors.
  • Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project in conjunction with more senior staff.

  Who we're looking for: To be successful in this role you will most likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to either IMechE or CIBSE requirements. Ability to design principle mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:

  • Ventilation design
  • Chilled water
  • Comfort Cooling design
  • Domestic hot and cold water systems / Public Health
  • Heating systems
  • Above Ground drainage
  • HVAC control principles
  • Use of  Hevacomp / IES or equivalent
  • Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCAD
  • Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems above
  • Use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

They require an experienced Public Health Project Engineer to join their multidisciplinary Building Services design team in Maidenhead. You will be required to support the delivery of a wide variety of projects for several key clients covering a range of activities from project feasibility through to detailed design and construction support. Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for development of practical public health design solutions across a wide variety of challenging and prestigious projects;
  • Close liaison with project teams to produce coherent and coordinated information;
  • Representing the organisation with clients, design teams, and contractors;
  • Investigating new and emerging technologies and applying practically;
  • Provide technical guidance, support and training to colleagues and assist in mentoring and development of others;
  • Taking responsibility for production of high-quality Revit and AutoCAD work;

  Professional Membership and Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline;

  • Ability to develop technical design schematics and layout drawings, supported by engineering calculations;
  • Experience of confidently managing production of design information in both 2D and 3D environments;
  • Ideally an excellent working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD;
  • Able to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members and to produce reports in plain English;
  • Ability to work on own initiative and seek assistance when required;
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload to ensure that timescales are met;

• Associate Public Health Engineer

The firm is independently owned by the Directors and employees, all based together in one office, supporting each other without corporate interference or distractions irrelevant to project delivery.  They can provide technical support when needed, but otherwise trust employees to independently manage their workload. As an Associate Public Health Engineer you will be responsible for leading the plumbing design solutions on complex projects from initial concept through to final delivery, represent the business in front of clients and architects, and provide mentorship and guidance to more junior team members. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the public health design on complex and large-scale UK and International projects across a range of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, healthcare and industrial.
  • Manage the delivery of public health design solutions in accordance with British Standards and relevant codes of practice.
  • Produce detailed public health designs and specifications for projects, ensuring compliance with performance requirements and energy efficiency standards.
  • Undertake detailed calculations and simulations to validate the public health design solutions.
  • Attend site visits and meetings with clients, architects, and contractors.
