The Role: You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working closely with clients, architects and other members of the professional team to deliver a wide variety of demanding large scale projects in the UK and potentially overseas. Duties will be varied but generally include the following:

  • Undertake detail design and specification of LV electrical installations and distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, cabling, control equipment and building services for the associated installations.
  • Specify switchgear, transformers and associated cabling and control equipment
  • Prepare feasibility, concept design and implementation studies.
  • Produce design documentation including specifications, models, drawings, calculations and assist the team to ensure that the technical content of all work carried out is correct and completed in accordance within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Develop relationships with Clients and key suppliers
  • Attending design and site meetings. Managing workload.
  • Mentoring other engineers, including checking and assuring work produced by others.
  • Work winning and business development.
  • Performing job manager responsibilities.
  • Working closely with the delivery teams and Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery

  The Person:

  • A degree in Building Services Engineering, or other related degree/masters.
  • A professional qualification with CIBSE or IET (or be working towards).
  • A good working knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, Clash Detection, Dialux and Amtech.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role with strong project management skills.
  • The ability to manage a variety of projects meeting varying deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to work alongside clients, architects and contractors to solve problems and come up with innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • A good understanding, knowledge, and application of Information Management standards, including ISO 19650.
  • Up to date knowledge of the UK construction market, including current UK Building Regulations and all relevant British Standards.

• Intermediate Electrical Engineer

  Join a leading multidisciplinary consultancy that provides mechanical and electrical engineering services to a wide range of clients and market sectors. They currently seek an intermediate electrical design engineer with building services experience to join the existing MEP team that provides engineering support to a number of Blue-Chip International Brands. Experience within the commercial/industrial, retail, residential, and education sectors are essential.  Experience in automotive and clean/dry rooms is desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible, under the leadership of the Associate Director/Senior Engineer, for the internal day-to-day management of small to medium-scale projects and individual engineering task(s) for numerous schemes for client’s cross sector. This will include the creation, development of, and finalising engineering design solutions for electrical services, working with other team members and project teams together with direct liaison with the client and other design team professionals. The role will involve: 

  • Complete survey work and site inspections.
  • Undertake design calculations using various methods, from hand calculations to software-based modelling.

  • A degree qualification - Electrical or building services (Chartered or working towards). An HNC or HND with suitable design experience will also be considered.
  • Client interaction skills.
  • Software design ideally including Microsoft Office, Amtech, Dialux and Autodesk Revit MEP.
  • Knowledge of British standards, building regulations documents, etc.
  • Professional membership (CIBSE, IET, IMechE).

Responsibilities:

  • Full time role reporting to the team leader / partner.
  • Undertake and deliver high quality detailed engineering design for electrical building services and power distribution systems, including calculations, analysis, schematics, drawings, diagrams, models, specifications, and other documents required.
  • Apply relevant legislation, standards, regulations, guides and good practise for UK and International projects.
  • Take responsibility for specific areas of the design and project development. Lead electrical engineering design for small and medium sized projects.
  • Seek, complete and record evidence of, continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with the requirements of the relevant professional Institution.
  • Represent the company in professional and diligent manner at all times, attend meetings with client, project team, contractors etc.

  Skills: Essential:

  • Electrical engineering, Building Services/Engineering related degree or related experience with electrical bias.

  • Qualified as a Chartered Engineer or in final stage of registering (or validated Overseas equivalent).
  • Solid technical understanding of own core engineering discipline and the role of the electrical engineer within the design team.
  • Broad understanding of other engineering disciplines engaged in the design of the built environment.
  • Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standard design reference material.
  • Ability to use initiative in response to demands of project.
  • Able to present, negotiate and communicate well in graphical, written or verbal forms including ability to listen and to understand others.
