    • Undertake electrical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings and specifications for projects.     • Where required, take a lead role for on projects involving both mechanical and electrical services where we are working in conjunction with other design team members.
    • Prepare budget costs for schemes and maintain these during the design stage of a project. Issue a pre-tender estimate to the QS (if part of the project remit). Obtain assistance from Associate Engineers where required.
    • Comment on electrical services valuations during the construction process.
    • Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, Value Engineering Workshops, Risk Workshops etc as required by the project.
    • Attend site as part of the construction phase activities of projects and participate in site meetings. Undertake snagging, preparation of snagging lists, valuations (if required) and end of defects inspections as required. When undertaking valuations where we are acting as Lead Consultant these are normally undertaken on a monthly basis and include the preparation of Certificates and Valuation paperwork for submission to the Client to allow payment authorisation.
    • Undertake surveys and reports for the company including Feasibility studies, and Condition Surveys and generate reports meeting the company report format.
    • Undertake presentations for projects relating to electrical services.
    • Advise Clients and other designers on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint.
    • Undertake tender reviews and provide recommendation reports for the appointment of Contractors. This shall be in conjunction with other Design Team members where required.
    • Work in conjunction with other Fstaff members on design work as part of an overall project team. In particular work with the Junior and Intermediate members of staff to support the project and to assist in their development.
    • Use and champion the use of Amtech for electrical services design work in the office and develop a standard set of output documents and calculations for tender issue.
    • Champion the use of BIM, Revit and TAS for mechanical and electrical services design and drawing work in the office where required for projects.
    • Consider with the other Directors, the use of new working methods/technology to reduce design times and to improve the overall quality of the output documents. Assist with implementation
    • Promote the business at events and functions where representing the company.
    • Participate in the Staff Review process which is undertaken on an annual basis.
    • Participate in the health and review process within the company and adhere to the Health and Safety procedures in place.
    • Work attire shall be smart, suitable for business. When attending meetings on construction sites then more casual clothing is acceptable. PPE is provided (hi-vis vest, hard hat, gloves and glasses) and site boots shall be purchased by the individual and reimbursed via expenses.
    • Complete the company timesheets system on a weekly basis to record time worked on specific project tasks.
    • Develop Client relationships with the aim to obtain repeat business for the company.
    • Undertake CPD training to continue your education and training.

    • Utilise Amtech and Dialux software for calculations. Undertake basic calculations on cable sizing, lighting selections etc.

Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements Produce marked up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue. You will work under the direction of the Technical Director/Principal Engineers responsible for the projects but be capable of working independently and supervising Assistant Engineers to deliver designs / compliance reviews in accordance with the Client’s requirements / Project Basis of Design and related National Standards, according to mutually agreed time allocations. Duties:

    • Lead electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
    • Management of the delivery of design, 2D or 3D modelling work undertaken by remote design offices.
    • Prepare electrical equipment: packaged equipment specifications and data sheets.
    • Review electrical equipment vendor drawings, data interface with suppliers, clients other engineering disciplines, detailers, designers.
    • Participate in development of project schedule, scope, budget staffing planning and construction planning.
    • Participate in the development of project schedule, scope, budget, staffing planning and construction planning. Responsible for the effective management of change orders.
    • Apply expert knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
    • Applies knowledge and experience to complex projects, find non-standard design solutions.
    • Quality review production drawings and project related data as required by the project managers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software.
    • Quality review the construction administration including coordination with field personnel to resolve design related installation issues, calculations, field inspections and testing of electrical systems.
    • Leads field inspections, installation, measurements or calculations.
    • Prepare and present technical reports for clients.
    • Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.
    • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
    • Responsible for QA/QC process adherence (review and checking of their own and work undertaken by engineers under their supervision prior to this being offered for final review).
    • Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
    • Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor of Science/Engineering in Electrical Engineering or related degree/international qualification.
    • Chartered Status preferred.
    • CSCS Card holder preferred.
    Skills: Appropriate candidates shall have the following relevant experience and skills:
    • A minimum of 8 years’ post graduate electrical services design experience including 2 years’ experience delivering the MV/LV electrical services designs for Data Centre projects.
    • Performed the role of Compliance Monitoring/Technical Advisor on Contractor Design and Build projects with an understanding of application of The Employer’s Requirements. Including but not limited to:
      • Reviewing Contractor’s design proposals
      • Technical Submittals
      • Working / Installation drawings
      • Equipment manufacturers shop drawings
    • Experience of undertaking site inspections of electrical services installations for compliance with the design / Specification materials and workmanship and Statutory Requirements.
    • Demonstrate a knowledge of the design of resilient MV/LV electrical distribution systems to provide concurrently maintainable and fault tolerant systems.
    • Competent in the design of LV distribution systems with a working knowledge of BS7671 and IEC 60364 and in the use of Trimble Electrical Designer 2D.
    • Competent to undertake internal lighting designs and in the use of DIALux.
    • Competent in the use of Revit to produce 2D SLDs and 3D models.
    • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail, collaboration, time management and problem-solving skills.
    • Critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving team environment.
    Preferred:
    • Experience of electrical design on projects in Finland, Germany, Iceland or Italy.
    • Knowledge of MV/LV power system analysis and competent in the use of Etap.
