Seeking an Associate level Electrical Engineer. About the role: As a member of the Engineering team, you will report to an Associate Director. You will be responsible for leading and maintaining a wide range of projects and/or providing specialist knowledge to other projects/teams. Using industry benchmarks and internal standards, you will ensure not only the timely delivery of considered and accurate project information but also provide a leading point of contact for our clients/collaborators. The incumbent will be expected to undertake an element of business development, leveraging key contacts to secure new or additional work whenever possible. You will also be encouraged to secure external speaking/CPD opportunities. You will also be responsible for upholding the integrity of ISO 9001, directing, leading and co-ordinating the internal efforts of junior staff, providing appropriate frameworks and tools, agreeing appropriate standards and co -ordinating delivery against these standards. They currently seek an intermediate electrical design engineer with building services experience to join the existing MEP team that provides engineering support to a number of Blue-Chip International Brands. Experience within the commercial/industrial, retail, residential, and education sectors are essential.  Experience in automotive and clean/dry rooms is desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible, under the leadership of the Associate Director/Senior Engineer, for the internal day-to-day management of small to medium-scale projects and individual engineering task(s) for numerous schemes for client’s cross sector. This will include the creation, development of, and finalising engineering design solutions for electrical services, working with other team members and project teams together with direct liaison with the client and other design team professionals. The role will involve:

    • Knowledge of British standards, building regulations documents, etc.
    • Professional membership (CIBSE, IET, IMechE).

What you'll be doing: In this role you will produce detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with the project requirements and as such a sound knowledge of technical engineering design relevant to the role is required - liaising with both Senior Engineers and Engineering Technicians regarding design and drawing as part of this dynamic team that believes in absolute delivery. Work will typically be undertaken in conjunction with a Mechanical Associate assisting in the survey, design, specification, and contract administration process of the projects. The work will be a mixture of survey, design work, office-based project administration, and site attendances.

    • Carrying out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects.
    • Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages.
    • Attend design team meetings alongside other staff members.
    • Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems.
    • Undertake Mechanical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for projects. Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project team. Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative and health and safety requirements.
    • Utilise Building Services software for calculations.
    • Produce marked-up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
    • Select and specify products, equipment, and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors.
    • Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project in conjunction with more senior staff.
    Who we're looking for: To be successful in this role you will most likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to either IMechE or CIBSE requirements. Ability to design principle mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:
    • Ventilation design
    • Chilled water
    • Comfort Cooling design
    • Domestic hot and cold water systems / Public Health
    • Heating systems
    • Above Ground drainage
    • HVAC control principles
